LEADERSHIP ESSAY

 

I believe that a leader can be defined in different ways. In the whole of my life, I encountered various experiences to become a leader. Often during my studies at high school, I got a chance to lead my team. During this whole scenario, I got various techniques and qualities of a good leader. Some of them were able to become a team player who will cooperate with anyone to support them. Even I gained a lot during my leadership and experiences during my academic life. First of all, let me explain myself. I am good at social communication and a good listener, but here is a problem with me that I usually take time to make any decision. The purpose of this paper is to discuss my leadership in the light of assigned articles and what I learned from the great leaders Mohammad Ali and Steve Jobs.

The best way to understand yourself is to know that what you can do reasonably and where you are not good at all. It means you must be an excellent knowledge of your strengths and weaknesses. My greatest strength is that I am good at social communication. As per me, communication is a two-way process. You can't understand the point of view of other people until or unless you listen to them. So, this is also my strength that I am a good listener. When anyone is talking to me, I always listen to it carefully. I think every leader must have this quality so the speaker can feel comfortable communicating with you. But here is a problem with me that I am not reasonable to take prompt action. Due to this reason, sometimes I encountered problems taking a long time to give my opinion.

During the study of this course, I learned various things about leaders and their leading styles. Our professor also provided us some notes and lectures on great leaders. The most exciting thing which I learned in this subject is the components of emotional intelligence as per the assigned articles named "What Makes a Leader" by "Daniel Goleman. As per the author of this article, the five components are self-regulation, self-awareness, empathy, social skill, and empathy, etc. From all of this intelligence, I have almost all except someone like empathy. It means I am usually facing problems to understand the things which I got earlier.

Being a Muslim, I am feeling safe while I am following the teachings of Islam. For learning leadership, I always follow the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) because, at his every step, he played a significant role in leadership. I think if we follow any aspect of his life, we can achieve success in our life. During this class, I learn about ten bits of intelligence through various lectures. I usually feel that intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence are those where I am feeling issues. But my professor taught me nicely, and now I feel that now I can use this intelligence to manage myself. Now, I am happy that I got the strength to communicate with people, and I became an excellent social communicator in my circle. I also got a grip on musical intelligence because I learned the right body movement during communication.

As per the assignment from the professor, I watched Steve Jobs speech at Stanford University. I think he delivered this speech to me. At the time, when he talked about the connection of dots, and he explained he dropped out of the college, and he felt there is nothing to do in his life. Later on, he started working on the building of a computer and got success in it. I think this is the story that I must have to apply in my life. From this speech, I learned that if you want to become a leader, you must be work on your passion and go for it till the end. These are the dots that will support you in the future to become a successful leader.

Several things are available to learn from the life of Muhammad Ali. This person is also a great leader, and he is not only a boxer but also a strategist and a political activist. At that time, the Islamic Nation was in its worst situation. But as everyone knows, Muhammad Ali was passionate about doing every conduct as per the teachings of Islam. So, he did an excellent job of presenting the real picture of Islam to the European civilizations. Several times, faced poverty and hate from the people due to his political movements. But he never gave up, and soon he got success, and now the world knows him as a great leader.

Finally, let me conclude my writing in a way that I learned many things from this course that is enough to become a successful leader in my future life. I learned various things to control my self-emotions and to manage the others as well. I got how to become a successful leader and become a successful person by following any leader in my life.
